I looked at my phone again, reading the message once more. I had to remind myself it was real. My dad wanted to see me. After all these years, I would finally get the answers I had been searching for. I unlocked my phone and typed the words.
Ok, I will come to you. Venue?
I was going to go see my dad, and nobody would stop me. Not even Jake. I knew he would try to talk me out of it. But I was more concerned with getting the weight of this secret off my chest. I couldn’t come to terms with just ignoring it like that night never happened. I could not be like Austin. He seemed happy to put it all behind him, but I couldn’t. I couldn’t stop the ache in my heart whenever I remembered.
