Emmy
“Are you okay?” I looked up to see Johnny walking toward me with his hands in his pockets.
I scoffed a laugh through my tears. “Do I look okay?”
He stopped right in front of me. “What happened?”
I shook my head, not wanting to relay the details of what brought me here to someone so close to Zane. Furthermore, someone who was known to be a tattletale. “Nothing,” I said.
He chuckled and took a seat beside me. “I don’t mean to point out the obvious, darlin’, but you’re crying on the front steps of my buddy’s house, and my buddy is nowhere to be seen. It doesn’t look like nothing.”
I wiped my eyes with the back of my wrist. “How about you stop prying? Yeah?”
“Contrary to popular belief, I’m concerned about the people closest to me. And you’re Monica’s friend, which means you’re my friend too.”
I turned my hung head to face him. “Your friend is the biggest jerk I ever fell for, is what’s wrong.”
